The fleet

Gyroplanes.
Not helicopters.

An autogyro flies on an unpowered rotor that auto-rotates from forward airflow. No mechanical drive to the blades. No tail rotor. No hover — but also no settling-with-power, no ground resonance, no jet-A bill. Just a 30-metre takeoff roll and the slowest, steadiest low-altitude camera platform aviation has ever produced.

How it actually flies

Why Cierva's invention from 1923 is the best aircraft for an African safari in 2026.

Autorotation

The rotor is unpowered. Airflow keeps it spinning. Engine drives a pusher prop, not the blades.

Engine-out = glide

Lose the engine and you don't fall — you descend like a parachute. Land in a paddock at 25 km/h.

STOL

Off the ground in 30–70 m. Land in 0–15 m. Bush strips, salt pans, beach. No hover needed.

Stable in wind

The disc absorbs gusts a fixed wing fights. Smoothest low-altitude photographic platform built.

Three OEMs. EU buyers trust ELA. SA schools trust AutoGyro. Design lovers trust Magni.

ELA-10 Eclipse

Founded in 1996 in Andalusia, ELA Aviación debuted the Eclipse line at AERO Friedrichshafen 2014 and has since become the European reference for premium enclosed gyroplanes. Two-seat tandem, doors on, glass cockpit, cabin heater for high-altitude winter mornings over the Karoo. The Rotax 915iS sits forward of the rotor mast; a pusher prop behind. EU certified, EU buyer comfort.

Cavalon

AutoGyro has built more gyroplanes than any other OEM since 1999. The Cavalon is their side-by-side flagship — your spouse next to you, not behind. Carbon and fibreglass shell, famously low vibration, the smoothest pitch axis in the category. The Calidus tandem and MTOsport (Red Dot Award 2017) sit in the same Hildesheim hall and join the line as members request them.

M24 Orion

Vittorio Magni came out of Agusta and has been designing rotorcraft since 1976. The Magni family is known for honest manual controls and a cult following among low-and-slow conservation pilots. The M24 Orion is the side-by-side enclosed flagship — the one that turns heads on the apron.

Safety & operator

One AOC. One maintenance regime. One name on the insurance.

MySky.africa does not hold an AOC. FlyJetStream does — SACAA AOC #____, operating from Wonderboom (FAWB). All maintenance, insurance, type-rated currency, and cross-border permits are their job. Every aircraft on the line is a Rotax 915iS / 914 powered gyroplane, rotor-overhauled on a 1,000-hour cycle, maintained by AMEs type-rated by the OEM. Logbooks available to members on request.
